(PRWEB) April 17, 2013 New York-based Farm Rich has recalled 196,222 pounds of frozen meals and snacks over fears of E. coli contamination. According to a March 29 CNN news report, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced that at least 24 cases of E. coli O121 have been reported across 15 states including New York with at least one linked to the consumption of Farm Rich products. The report states that one-third of those who were sickened were hospitalized, but no deaths were recorded. About 78 percent of those who were sickened are under the age of 22, the report states. According to a Jan. 31 ABC news report, the child-resistant caps on these medications do not work properly and it is possible for a child to remove them even when the tamper-resistant plastic seal is still in place.
