SUV, motorcycle collide; man airlifted to UT Medical Center

One person was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center earlier this evening after a motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle in West Knox County, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Martha Dooley, Knox County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said the wreck occurred shortly before 8:20 p.m. on Lovell Road near the Snyder Road intersection. The name of the woman driving the SUV was not released, and the name and condition of the man riding the motorcycle was not released.

Dooley said the Toyota Four-Runner pulled out of a church parking lot as a motorcycle was coming down Lovell Road and the motorcycle hit the side and back door of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision. A landing zone was set up in the Westgate Christian Fellowship parking lot at 1110 Lovell Road to airlift the man to UT Medical Center.

Traffic was diverted around the wreck for more than an hour as deputies investigated the wreck scene.
